Abstract
Professor P. E. Brown writes: With respect to the suggested migration of liquid through the cumulus pile, has the author any feel for the thickness of the cumulate pile at the time the picritic magma was introduced and the depth in that pile at which the introduction took place?
Ms R. Renner replies: at present the authors have no direct estimation of the thickness of the cumulus pile. Slump structures in the allivalites are tens of metres thick, suggesting that such thicknesses of unconsolidated cumulate might be typical.
